Environmental Policy
Pacific Radiology is New Zealand’s leading radiology provider. We are committed to minimising our global eco-impact and protecting New Zealand’s natural environment by operating our business in as sustainable a manner as possible; given our mission in delivering medical imaging services of the highest quality and greatest patient benefit.
Vision
To reduce our carbon footprint by 10%, our landfill waste by 20%; achieving carbon neutrality, by 2012.
We will do this by:
- Ensuring that our medical imaging service delivery complies with all New Zealand legislative, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Running our business in as efficient a manner as possible, optimising resource use, and expecting fair profits in return for investments and services delivered.
- Reducing our use of energy and water by utilising energy efficient hardware and processes.
- Reducing our landfill waste by re-using and recycling where possible.
- Educating and training our staff to perform their tasks in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Establishing and resourcing a ‘Green Initiative Group’ (GIG) organised and operated by staff representing all components of our company. The Chairperson of this Group will report directly to the Managing Partner.
- Communicating our goals to all employees and suppliers; encouraging active participation with regular status updates.
- Maintaining an intranet environmental concerns page that both informs and allows staff feedback; managed by the GIG.
- Widespread and unconditional support from radiologists and senior management for all GIG targets that comply with this policy.
- Providing organisational leadership by having a permanent Board agenda item devoted to reviewing and discussing Environmental Policy matters, updating current and proposed initiatives, the results of which will be communicated to our staff through the GIG and intranet.
- Expecting our suppliers to have similar environmental standards, and for waste, water and energy use issues to be considered when making purchasing decisions; the results of these considerations are to be documented in the relevant Board or committee minutes.
- Ongoing carbon footprint assessment, with staff feedback as to status, and continuing participation in tree planting to offset carbon usage.
